I welcome your thoughts on any of these apps, as well as any suggestions you might have for the list.
- Powerful Mac apps that won’t break the bank There’s something of a misconception when it comes to the Mac. While powerful tools like Photoshop or Final Cut Pro certainly have price tags commensurate with their robust feature sets, many of the greatest Mac apps won’t cost you anything more than the time they take to download them.

8 – Xee – http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/xee.html
Xee is the best image viewer on the mac. Replacing ComicViewer on Windows, it will open your comic / manga / rar or zip files directly for viewing if you have The Unarchiver installed. Extremely convenient… and both are FREE!
9 – The Unarchiver – http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html
The Unarchiver is a much more capable replacement for “BOMArchiveHelper.app”, the built-in archive unpacker program in Mac OS X. The Unarchiver is designed to handle many more formats than BOMArchiveHelper, and to better fit in with the design of the Finder. It can also handle filenames in foreign character sets, created with non-English versions of other operating systems. I personally find it useful for opening Japanese archives, but it should handle many other languages just as well.
